Robot Johnson Writes The Blues is a tool for collaborating with dead blues lyricists.  It channels the spirits of various bluesmen by crudely markov chaining their lyrics together and even crudelier lashing a rhyme on the end.  I took two of corpuses (corpuses?...Corpi?...Corpora?) corpora of lyrics: one consisting of a selection of artists, that I may update at some point, such as Captain Beefheart, Howlin Wolf, Lightnin' Hopkins, Skip James and maybe even some Blind Willie McTell.  ​ And another made up of the entire back catalog of Robert Johnson verses.  Lines are markov chained together based on a few randomised variables that determine verse structure and which corpus to read from, but it is most likely to spit out an AAB 12 bar blues verse made up of a "call" generated from corpus one, and a "response" from the words of Robert Johnson. Then it awkwardly slaps a 1 - 4 - 5 chord progression over the top and calls it a night. Instablues. Click to generate a fresh page of words.
